Présentation

Tanaka Masato est doctorant au département d’Histoire sur l’Asie à l’Université de Tokyo. Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur l'administration provinciale de l'Empire ottoman et ses interrelations avec le capitalisme européen. Sa thèse, dirigée par Tomoko Morikawa, intitulée State, Development, and Local Governance in the Eastern Mediterranean: Mount Lebanon from the Late Ottoman to French Mandate Period, 1840-1930, s'intéresse au processus inégal de consolidation de l'État dans la région et explore comment ce processus à long terme a généré des attentes diverses et souvent concurrentes envers le gouvernement et a influencé les idées de " nation » parmi les différents groupes sociaux de la région. Pendant son séjour à Paris, Tanaka Masato sera supervisé par Alessandro Stanziaini.
