Le CRH

Presentation

The Center for Historical Studies (Centre de Recherches Historiques, CRH) was established in 1949 by Fernand Braudel and is a joint institute of both the EHESS and the CNRS (UMR 8558).

It fosters research spanning all historical periods (from the Ancient World until today) and different geographical areas, and it emphasizes shared concerns about the “longue durée”, a reflection on social history, interdisciplinary practices, the linking of various analytic levels from the micro to the global, and the importance of challenging new sources.

The CRH is committed to international research and functions as the “History department” within the intellectually stimulating environment of the EHESS.

It federates 15 research teams, some 130 scholars, lecturers, and research assistants as well as hundreds of graduate students, half of whom come from outside of France.

The direction of the center : Jean-Paul Zúñiga,  Mathieu Marraud and Fanny Cosandey.
