Amnon (Nono) Raz-Krakotzkin has since 2014 been the academic director of the Jewish Culture and Jewish Thinking unit at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. He also continues to be the academic director of a project entitled Orientalism and Modernity from Jewish Oriental Perspectives, which takes place at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute in conjunction with the Ben-Zvi Institute for the Study of Jewish Communities in the East. He is currently also the chair of the department of Jewish History at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. 

Raz-Krakotzkin completed his master’s degree at the Hebrew University (under the supervision of Prof. Reuven Bonfil) and his doctorate at the Cohn Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas at Tel Aviv University (under the supervision of the late Prof. Amos Funkenstein). He was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (German Institute of Advanced Studies) and at the Center of Advanced Judaic Studies in Philadelphia. He is a member of the steering committee of “Europe in the Middle East, the Middle East in Europe” (EUME), a research program at the Berlin-based Forum Transregionale Studien, The Branderburg Academy of Science and the Thyssen Foundation. His book, The Censor, the Editor, and the Text (Hebrew: Magnes Press, 2006, English: University of Pensylvania Press), won the Zalman Shazar Prize for Jewish History for 2005–2006.
